Pattern & Pause

A guided introduction to meditative pattern drawing

65 Canadian dollars

Service Description

Step away from screens and everyday distractions for an afternoon of slow, absorbing pattern drawing in the company of others. In Pattern & Pause, artist and instructor Kat Greenwood will introduce you to the relaxing practice of building an image through simple lines, shapes, and repeated patterns. No drawing experience is needed. The patterns are explored one step at a time, making this an approachable way to begin creating even if you are unsure what to draw or where to start. The session will begin with a guided warm-up, allowing everyone to practise a selection of patterns together. You will then move into a period of focused creation, choosing from pattern ideas and prompts provided by Kat while combining, adapting, and developing them in your own way. There is no single finished result to copy. You can repeat, combine, and personalize the patterns as your drawing develops. Colour may be added to bring another layer of expression to the finished piece. The gentle repetition of lines and shapes can help settle your attention and make room for creative flow. More importantly, this workshop gives you dedicated time to create away from everyday demands, with face-to-face instruction, encouragement, and the shared energy of making art alongside others. This workshop offers a taste of the calm, guided, process-based artmaking found in Quiet Colour Club.
