Service Description

Slow down, connect with natural materials and make space for reflection through art. In this experiential workshop, Art Therapy Intern Caitlyn Chisamore will guide participants through a gentle combination of art making, personal reflection and social connection. Using a thoughtfully gathered collection of natural materials, participants will respond to creative invitations and guided journal prompts, allowing the process to unfold in their own way. There will also be opportunities to share reflections with the group, although sharing is always optional. Rather than focusing on artistic technique or creating a particular finished product, this workshop centres the experience of making. Participants are invited to notice the materials that draw their attention, experiment with arranging and combining them, and explore what emerges through the creative process. All art materials are provided, including natural materials that have been sustainably and ethically gathered. No previous art experience is required. This workshop is offered as part of Caitlyn’s supervised art therapy placement through the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute. Saturday, November 28 1:00-3:00 pm Adults 18+ $40 per person Maximum 8 participants About Caitlyn Caitlyn Chisamore is an Art Therapy Intern, artist, somatic practitioner and yoga instructor. Her person-centred practice brings together art therapy, somatic and eco-relational approaches, with an emphasis on personal expression, present-moment awareness and connection. Caitlyn works with adults experiencing life transitions, stress, burnout and emotional overwhelm. She is particularly interested in the ways creativity, the body and our relationship with the natural world can support reflection and greater awareness. Outside of her practice, Caitlyn enjoys spending time with family, walking in nature, making art, reading, yoga and movement, travel and visiting thermal spas. What is Art Therapy? Art therapy combines creative expression and art making with therapeutic reflection. Rather than focusing on artistic skill or producing a particular kind of artwork, attention is given to the experience of making and to the thoughts, feelings and discoveries that may arise through the process. Art can sometimes provide another way of exploring experiences that are difficult to express in words. In a group setting, the creative process can also offer opportunities for reflection and connection with others.
