Service Description
This 5-week introductory life drawing course is designed for adults who want to build a stronger foundation for drawing the human figure from a live model. Through guided instruction and repeated practice, we will explore proportion, simplified shapes and masses, several approaches to gesture drawing, contour, cross-contour, relative measuring, and the first steps toward foreshortening. You will learn how to see the figure as a whole, work through timed poses, let go of perfection, and develop practical strategies for drawing what you actually observe. Each class includes demonstrations, drawing from a live model, guided exercises, and time to look at and discuss the work created in the room. No previous life drawing experience is required. This course is also a good fit for self-taught artists who have experience drawing from a model but would like more formal instruction and practical strategies for approaching the figure.
