This beginner-friendly 4-week course invites you to explore and compare a range of water-based media through guided experiments and hands-on practice. Working with watercolour, acrylic, inks, and alternative water-soluble materials, participants will discover how each medium behaves, what it does well, what its limitations are, and why an artist might choose one over another. You will experiment with different papers, painting surfaces, tools, and mediums while comparing qualities such as transparency, opacity, texture, flow, portability, cleanup, and cost. All materials are included, giving you the chance to try a wide range of art supplies without having to purchase them first. This makes the course a great way to discover which materials and approaches you enjoy before deciding what you may want to invest in for your own practice. The emphasis is on curiosity, comparison, and experimentation rather than producing a finished project each week. Suitable for beginners and anyone curious about expanding their creative practice in a supportive, encouraging environment. For adults ages 18 and up.
