Heather Savage
Heather Savage is an artist, curator, and educator based in Brockville, Ontario. She teaches with a focus on observation, encouragement, and accessible skill-building, creating welcoming spaces where people can learn, experiment, and grow in confidence.
Heather holds a BFA (Honours) and a BEd, A.C.E. (Artist in Community Education), both from Queen’s University.

Her background brings together studio practice, arts education, and curatorial leadership, shaping an approach that is both thoughtful and accessible.
Since 2018, Heather has served as Curator of the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at St. Lawrence College, where she has developed exhibitions and public programming featuring local, regional, and national artists, community groups, students, and alumni. As an educator, she has taught private one-on-one lessons in drawing, painting, and printmaking, and has also taught drawing and life drawing at St. Lawrence College.
Heather’s own background as a practising artist and conceptual thinker informs the way she teaches. She understands art-making not only as a technical practice, but also as a way of paying attention, making meaning, and reconnecting with oneself. She values repetition, observation, and hands-on exploration, and aims to help participants feel comfortable enough to try, learn, and discover their own creative voice over time.
At Creative Practice, Heather teaches:

Beginner Drawing
-
